Question  MAC users can only intermittently view my site

I have used the HTML File Manager to build my site for the last several years.

I now have a MAC user who has revealed to me that he can only view the site a small percentage of the time.

He says it looks like incripted code to him. Yet, on his wife's Dell PC he doesn't have any problems.

Is there something I should and can do to eradicate this problem?

RE: MAC users can only intermittently view my site

Are the lovely Mac’s!

I believe one in ten computer users use Mac’s instead of PC’s. Mac’s have a different operating system and behave slightly differently than PC’s. They are the computer of choice for Photographers and designers. That said I don’t think it is the PC that is your problem rather than the browsers used on them. Even an upgrade in the browser can cause problems with your site being viewed the way you intend it to be.

Here is a link to test your site using a number of different browsers and browser versions.

Also consider how your site may be viewed in different browser settings. You may be using a large wide screen and the visual effect is fine but people using small lap tops may have a lower resolution screen i.e. 800 x 600 this will give the effect of possibly having a horizontal scroll bar.

The main browsers used by Mac users is Safari and this doesn’t support a lot of Microsoft FrontPage functions. I.e. ‘Alt’ will not be displayed when using mouse-over. Picture galleries may not work properly so be careful of the Script you use. Graphics can also be an issue with some browsers. .png file in particular .

JavaScript script can also be caught out when newer versions of your favourite bowers are upgraded.

Test you site above using the above link. This will show you screen shoots of all the browsers you list to test your site. It will take several minutes but overall it is a fast way of testing new sites. Also download the major web browsers and test the sites in full on your pc.

Browser Download sites:

These are the most commonly used browsers

Safari Browser

Internet Explorer

(Please not version 8 is a beta version i.e a test version and it is full of bugs suggest you use version 7 for the time being)

Note: PC usually have Internet Explorer pre installed.

I hope this helps you solve the problem
